Tongariro crossing, photo-gallery

Today I did the Tongariro crossing, considered the best “1 day hike (o trampling like the say here in New Zealand) of Aotearoa, and the set of Mordor in “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. To be honest the 19,4km hike was not so great, except for the sector between Red crater and Emerald lakes, which is absolutely gorgeous. 

Here are some photos from my long intense day. The hike is very long for one day, and even going at great speed I did not have time to climb the summit of Tongariro mountain, not even mention Mount Ruapehu which takes longer. We arrived at almost 9 and pick up for at 4pm, definitely not enough time…
